Report of affiliation TASK ONE Executive Summary Throughout the report cost figures have been given to two decimal places. From the data provided, the cost of silver from metal Direct Company is always higher than the cost incurred from Rookstone Company. Based on the current prices, the company is advised to order monthly silver from the Rookstone Company. Report for Margret Jaszcyk Re Memo: Jimks Company Analysis On the 29th September, Margaret Jaszczyk Company provided data in respect to the Jimks Company. The company was interested in getting a spreadsheet model which would allow it decide the company to order monthly silver from and provide the following information: Commission piece The dimensions of each material used(i.e. silver sheet, silver wire and chain) The weighs used of each of the materials Silver cost of each individual commission from the two suppliers Overall monthly totals An account of the fluctuations in the silver prices and the model allow entry for up to 15 commissions each month In order to design the spreadsheet model, a graph of cost of silver from both companies during the month and a spreadsheet for each company. From the spreadsheet model, it is clear that the company would order silver Rookstone Company. The company is selected because of relatively low cost. The total monthly cost of silver from Rookstone Company is 113.67 while the total cost of silver from Metal Direct Company is 116.66. The graph illustrates the relationship between the cost of silver and the number of order for the two companies. Based on current prices of silver, the company is advised to order silver from Rookstone Company. The cost per order is relatively low as compared to the cost incurred from Metal Direct Company For example, the cost of silver for four orders is 35.08 from Metal Direct Company and 34.18 from the Rookstone Company. The fluctuation in prices can be explained by the value added tax charged for each order. The attached file provided information in regard to dimensions, weights of materials used. The file also provides information in regard to order, total weight, cost of silver, VAT charged and total cost per month. TASK THREE Executive summary Figures for correlation coefficient are provided to four decimal places. Memo from smith and jones The data provided shows that there is moderate agreement between management team opinion and industry expert opinion with r=0.5636.the number of trips is the factor which mostly influences the estimated safety when using the transport system. The relationship can be estimated using the model below; Estimated safety= 1.349 + (0.108*number of trips) Report for Smith and Jones Re Memo: Light Rail Transit Company Analysis Smith and Jones Company provided data on Transport Company with respect to Transport Company which provides a Light Rail Transport system in an urban area. The company is interested to know level of agreement between management team opinion and industry expert opinion in regard to priority in spending. The company also provided survey data to investigate factors which mostly influence how safe customers feel when travelling on the service. In order to determine the level of agreement, spearman’s rank correlation coefficient is used. The options re listed and values assigned in respect to each option as per the two groups.the difference in value of opinion is obtained and then squared. Thespearman’s Rank correlation coefficient is 0.5636. There is a moderate positive association between the two teams in the level of spending. To analyse survey data, a scatter diagram was constructed to show relationship between safety and number of trips, reliability rate and travel time. Pearson’s correlation coefficient is calculated to show the relationship. The Pearson’s correlation coefficient for the relationship between safety and number of trips is 0.961. There is a strong positive relationship betweensafety and number of trips. There is a liner relationship between safety and number of trips.it is clear that 96.1% of the safety of service is determined by the number of trips. The linear regression analysis of the relationship can be represented as; Estimated safety= 1.349 + (0.108*number of trips) Forexample person who makes 36 trips, the estimated safety will be 5(to the nearest whole number). This is the interpolation point. Care should be taken in using the model to estimate safety beyond 60 trips because this is the extrapolation point For more information, the attached file on data Light Rail Transit will show how the analysis was conducted. TASK 6-A Executive summary In this report all figures are rounded off to three significant figures where possible. Memo This data was extracted from Ferwick Florist Distribution Co. (FFD). The data indicates two kinds of tulips to be imported from overseas. The data is used to determine the profit made per week. Report of FFD The maximum profit made by FFD per week is £ 641.38. The cases of LT and PT to shipped each week are 10 and 6 respectively. If the budget is increased from 1800 to 2200, then both LT and PT will increase by 1.222%. This translates 12 for LT and 7. The maximum profit per week will increase by 1.222% and this will translates to £ 783.766. When man-hour required for each case increases by 60%, then the supply for PT will increase to 16 and for LT to 10 per week. In the case of the profit will increase by 0.6 and we will have a profit of £ 1026.208. Finally, the increase of the cost of LT TO £ 100 will cause a decrease in profits and the cases shipped per week from 10 to 8. TASK SIX B Executive Summary In this report all the figures used have been rounded off to one decimal place where applicable. Memo The data received from Willington High School indicates that the performance of English is relatively good comparative to that of Mathematics. This is evidenced by the value of the variance which is 140.289 compared to that of mathematics which is 161.9675. The smaller the variance the closer the values are to the mean. Report on Willington High School From the calculated and tabulated value of the chain index for the percentage of performance of girls and boys against the expectation in English indicates an upward trend of performance represented by an insignificant margin in the case of girls and 4 points in the case of boys. On a similar note the tabulated index chain for the percentage of performance of girls and boys against the expectation of mathematics indicates an upward trend of five points for boys while it indicates a zero change for girls. This implies that the boys’ performance is far much improved based on year 2007/2008 Further, the calculated and tabulated value of the chain index for the percentage of performance of girls and boys against the expectation in English indicates an upward trend of performance represented by 2 points. This implies that in the base year 2007/2008, both girls and boys performed relatively well in English. Consider the graph below On the other hand, the chain index versus performance of girls and boys in Mathematics indicates an upward trend of performance represented by three points. This also implies that in the base year 2007/2008, both girls and boys performed well in Mathematics. Consider the following graph below The following table illustrates the a summary of a table of the central tendency and dispersion for the overall number of pupils eligible to take English and mathematics from 2007/08 to 2012/03 Number of eligible pupils take English and Math: Year English Math 2007/8 575813 576643 2008/9 556252 557674 2009/10 556264 557651 2010/11 535527 537072 2011/12 532453 533969 2012/13 543868 546038 TASK SEVEN Executive Summary The figures in this report are rounded off to three decimal places Memo The data was extracted from the Men’s Outlet Clothing Inc, books of accounts for purposes of determining the trends of the recent sales versus the staffing resources. This trend is founded on the trend equation represented by T=830.3653+-4.1688t Report on Men’s Outlet Clothing Inc, From the trend equation we can easily compute the value between the T when given t. Where T is trend and t is time. Take an example of finding the value of T when t is given. When t= 3 weeks T = 830.3653 -4.1688t T= 830.3653-4.1688 (3) T = 817.8589 Compare this figure with the graph below The Trend averages at 800 in the first 20 weeks and then decreases to 620 from week 33 to 40. This indicates that the sales increases with the capturing of the market niche which is well served with the available staffing resources, however, as time go by; the market niche expands and overwhelms the existing staffing. This implies that, the sales trend which translates to the growth trend of the organization has reached a saturation point which is characterized by a flat growth. This situation calls for an increase of the staffing resources to handle the dynamism exhibited by the client base. It is imperative to note that most organizations begin growing at gradually after the commencement of its operations and after 8 months or so, they begin trending towards peak since all the factors of production including staffing resources for the case of Men’s Clothing Inc, and then after two years, they begin trending towards the saturation point. At this point, management needs to evaluate the factors of production that have slowed down the growth. In the case of Men’s Clothing Inc, the staffing resources appear to be the growth slowing factor and need to be adjusted upwards. Read More
