Human Services Needs Assessment Report Human services are defined as activities that are meant to improve the correlation between individuals and the public institutions so as individuals may take full advantage of their potential and reduce distress. The work of a human service is to promote better service delivery systems by tackling the value of the services provided and continuous improvement on services at hand, accessibility, answerability and bringing together of the people that provide services and agencies in the service delivery arena (Monette et al 2011). In the report shown we shall access the health services that the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people how it needs improvement. An overview of this project is that it has been discovered that there are not exact number of the LGBT individuals in the US. As most of the surveys done do not include the sexual orientation part and the gender identity to see the exact number of the LGBT in the country and what are their health needs This is an assessment that identifies the gaps and disparities faced with this kind of a special group of people. What I mean by health disparities is; differences in the numbers of occurrences of the rate of mortality, trouble of diseases and other unpleasant health situations or outcomes that subsist among specific population groups. It can affect different groups of people that have same sexual preference, age, customs, socioeconomic status, topography, sexual orientation, gender uniqueness, disability or specific and special health care needs. This occurs in groups who have time and again experienced historical trauma, societal or discrimination, and scientifically experience worse health or greater health risks than more advantaged social groups (Ortiz 2015). Lesbians and gays are people who are sexually fascinated or sexually active with a person of the same sexual category. A bisexual can be termed to be an individual who is sexually fascinated to male or female. The transgender are people who are biologically born with gender defects and sometimes they do surgical operations to change their genders (Gallery et al. 2010). The mission and objective are to improve the health of the LGBT people by creating specialized treatment and increasing the number of health practitioners that can help this kind of group. Another mission is to give adequate security to ensure the safety of the LGBT is enhanced as well as creating awareness on how the public should co-relate with the LGBT. Increase the funding and the number of facilities used by the LGBT. Research suggests that LGBT people face health disparities linked to societal stigma, discrimination, and denial of their civil and human rights. The LGBT cannot access public health services because of lack of adequate insurance systems compared to the heterosexuals. In the matter of health care services, they lack competent providers who are adequately trained and equipped to deliver health services. Also, the LGBT are geographically isolated as the ones living in the rural areas do not get same health care as the one living in major cities. The discrimination of the LGBT has caused a lot of mental and psychiatric disorders like suicide, substance abuse, homophobia and transphobia (Ortiz-Hernández 2015). LGBT individuals experience a lot of violent behavior and ill-treatment. This has long-lasting effects on the individual and the community at large. The personal, relations, and communal recognition of sexual difference and gender identity have an effect on the mental health and personal wellbeing of LGBT individuals. It is important to assess the health of the LGTB so as to reduce the rate of transmission of sexually related diseases and human immunodeficiency virus-HIV among others. It also helps to increase LGTB individual mental and physical well being. We can also add that it would help reduce the cost of health care to the LGBT people as the matters to do with insurance covers will be improved According to NYC Community Health Survey information, 28.3% of lesbian and gay populace in the illustration did not have a main care provider, compared to 17.4% of heterosexual people. It also helps the LGBT access health facilities because some of them like the lesbians complained of not being able to perform mammograms. It also betters the health relationship of the heterosexual and homosexual as more issues concerning LGBT awareness, and conditions will be solved. This is by allowing medical student access more LGTB patients to create a culturally competent care. To access the health of the LGBT will also allow the making of rules and policies like the anti-bully in schools and public places and proper parental care (Price 2011). What can we do to improve the health of the LGTB individuals? Despite much progress in LGBT inclusion in New York City, countrywide the survey and many other data collection should inclusive of the LGBT questions like their identities, gender, and their spouses. This type of data collection should be consistent and reliable. Expanding access to reasonably priced insurance and removing obstacles to coverage for household partners and spouses would help cover uninsured LGBT people and bring down the coverage gap between LGBT and non-LGBT individuals. LGBT adults and youth should also engage in their prime health care by having regular check-ups and also increase the number of friendly practitioners (McKay 2011). Barriers to Healthcare Access Cultural competency training for health care providers will help alleviate many of the barriers to care that were reported in the Needs Assessment. Further, advertising stating that providers have been trained would allow LGBT people to select these providers and utilize them In the case where transportation is a barrier let’s say from the rural to town, vans or buses with drivers should be provided where transportation is nonexistent. Increasing transportation services to rural areas will ease social seclusion and the health and human services problems that arise when LGBT people are isolated (Price2011).Mental health care services and support groups for LGBT people have to be expanded. Where these services lack, the LGBT individuals feel pressed the youth, transgender, black and Hispanic people especially. Substance abuse like tobacco, alcohol, and many other drugs continue to harm the LGBT community. Creation of drug abstinences and awareness programs to help curb these vices. LGBT people who are affected by homelessness due to denial and isolation should be put in homeless services, and adequate training of the home providers will help ease this problem. This will also help with the issue of social isolation and loneliness Hatred and violence are still a problem for LGBT individuals. The victims should be put in programs for continuous support and counseling so as to improve reporting. Additional information can be given to more research should be done concerning the transgender and the gender non-conforming people with their special needs and what specific health care they need to better their health care needs. Healthcare providers should change their perception about the LGBT and help people identify the ones that are male or female and also help the transgender accept and identify themselves. Also the families with a large number of members who are LGBT that is sometimes inherited should receive support and education on how to handle them. Parents should also treat their children equally. In getting this information about LGBT, interviews were conducted; people living with these conditions were pointed out and interviewed on matters concerning their health and how they need it to be improved. Also I have used the past survey done by the New York City department of health on the LGBT in 2004 and also the Youth Risk Behavior survey done in 2007 done by high school students (Kann 2008). An online paper survey and questioner that was conducted on April 2009 6-22 on health and human services was also used. To make this research conclusive, there are a number of people who should be involved. Starting with the government who should avail funding for these programs like building hospitals that will be used by the LGBT individuals. Help with the creation of laboratories that will be used in the experiments involving the LGBT and also building of correctional facilities and homes for the homeless. It should also increase the funding of medical students on the study projects about sexual health. The government should recruit and support befriender volunteers who will act as peer mentors and support the LGBT people. The second one is the health care providers that consist of doctors and therapist. This group should be involved in the provision of the exact information about the LGBT conditions. They should the ability to handle this type of people with care and without prejudice. They should train and bring awareness to the public especially the non-LGBT on how to relate and socialize with the LGBT (Hughes 2011). The next one is the LGBT people. They have come out and identify themselves without fear. They should express out with their feelings and how they want to be handled. They have to point out on the issues they want to be addressed starting with the government to the public. The community should also be able to educate each other on the health and well-being of the non-heterosexual. They should encourage activities in schools and community that raises tolerance and acceptability of the sexual and gender difference. They should encourage activities that contribute to growing LGBT people physical and emotional safety. There are a number of ethical issues surrounding the study and treatment of the LGBT people. LGBT people are denied positions in churches especially the gay or lesbian marriages. Christianity and other religions consider these marriages as wayward and a curse. To contradict this, there are laws that are now implemented to allow gay marriages recognized in churches and also given positions to serve in churches. Politically LGBT individuals are not easily elected into governmental and political positions; people should be aware that everyone has the same right be it running for a governmental or non -governmental sit. An individual right to non-discrimination and also to be free from aggression and harassment is usually deprived of by omitting sexual preference under the anti-discrimination laws, constitutional provisions or their enforcement. The LGBT should receive adequate health care because they have a right to a physical and mental health. This will rule out the excuses that a practitioner is inadequately trained to provide the services. Also, the right to privacy should be respected in case an individual refuses an interview or relay any kind of personal information. The rights to freely express yourself should be respected during interview or on data collection. Also, freedom of association with heterosexual or non-heterosexual should be respected. A right to form as well as belong to a family must be considered mostly when parents deny their LGBT children. The government should also take this when an LGBT individual is homeless by creating one. Conclusion The lesbians, gay, bisexual and transsexual are very special people who have the same right to adequate health care services just like any other human being. They need to be accepted and recognized in the society no matter their conditions. They also must be trained on how to accept what they are and also respect other people’s opinions. Government and non-governmental organizations should lay out platforms to solve the issues facing the LGBT. The society has a role to play in creation of good parenting and acceptance of LGBT child and non-LGBT child. References Monette, D. R., Sullivan, T. J., & DeJong, C. R.
