The most public health-threatening toxicological risk is attributed to a diet that contains carcinogenic chemicals that results in tumors, this includes certain foodstuffs and food additives that are commonly used unknowingly. Factories emitting toxic gases also predispose individuals to contract health-related complications, chemical substances like benzene when inhaled lead to leukemia. Radon gas that is naturally produced from the ground is equally poisonous. The use of pesticides and other chemical substances to control microbial infections can also cause toxicity to human health; the toxic substances gain entrance into the body through inhalation and the dermal route leading to mutations, oncogenesis and teratogenesis.

The risks can be accelerated by consumption of foodstuffs notably vegetables that are grown in areas supplied with sewerage water leading to heavy metals present in the plant cells that induces oncogenicity, use of pesticides without protective gadgets impact negatively to the body hence mitigation measures have to be complied with. Consumption of salads may contain Staphylococcus aureus exotoxins a causative agent of toxic shock syndrome.

Industries should be decentralized to areas that are sparsely populated and also emit nontoxic gases, salads and other fast foods should be kept at higher temperatures to curb out toxic microbial growth and as for pesticides and other chemicals use, precautionary measures should be adhered to. Certifying bodies should also Endeavour to screen food additives for the presence of carcinogenic compounds.
