Leonardo Da Vinci: Journey to a Master of Art (1452-1519) Leonardo da Vinci was a best model of a Renaissance mastermind who obsessed one of the utmost intelligence of all eras1. Da Vinci was born in April 15, 1452 and passed away in May 2, 1519. Leonardo has never gone to a communal school. He was raised by his lone father. When Leonardo was 15, he coupled with the studio Af Andrea del Verrocchio which is situated in Florence. He spent the majority of his time painting. After five years, he developed into a member of the union of St. Luke, a painter’s league in Florence. Later onwards, he worked as a sovereign artiste at his own individual studio in Florence2. He was the dishonest son of Messer Piero Fruosino di Antonio da Vinci, a Florentine legal representative and Caterina, who was a peasant. Leonardo had no last name in the contemporary way, though ‘da Vinci’ plainly meaning ‘of Vinci’ was his family name given to him, “Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci”, which means “Leonardo, son of Piero from Vinci.” A little bit is acknowledged regarding his early days, which has been the focus of past speculation by a lot of historians. When Leonardo was five years old, he went to reside in the house of his father, along with his grandparents and uncle namely Francesco, in a little town of Vinci, where his father had wedded with a sixteen year old girl, Albiera. She loved Leonardo however unluckily she passed away in a young age3. Just two events of his early days are recorded. First one, which he observed as a portent, was when a kite crashed from the skies and floated above his cradle, its tail feathers combing his face. Leonardo Da Vinci 2 The second confrontation took place while he was traveling around in the mountains. He found a cave and documented his feelings at being, on one hand, frightened that a number of huge monsters may wait there and at the same time, motivated by inquisitiveness to find out what was in the cave4. In 1466, when he was fourteen, Leonardo was trained by one of the most victorious artiste of his time named as Andrea di Cione, also identified as Verrocchio. The workshop of this famous teacher was in the mid of the scholarly currents of Florence, declaring the little Leonardo of an education in the subject of humanities. As a trainee, Leonardo would have been educated in all the innumerable talents that were engaged in a customary workshop. Though a lot of craftsmen concentrated in work for example frame-making, gilding and bronze casting. Leonardo would have been uncovered to a huge variety of technical abilities and had the chance to study drafting, chemistry, metallurgy, metal working, plaster casting, leather work, technicalities and woodwork plus the noticeable creative talent of drawing, painting, carving and modeling5. Leonardo painted a little angel who was holding Jesus housecoat in a way that was as far as this superior to his master's that Verrocchio places down his brush and never painted over again. This is almost certainly an overstatement. On close inspection, the painting discloses a lot that has been painted or stroked over the tempera applying the innovative procedure of oil paint. The scenery, the rocks that can be seen throughout the brown mountain flow and a big deal of the sketch that Jesus stands as a spectator by the hand of Leonardo. Leonardo Da Vinci 3 In 1472, at the age of twenty, Leonardo got educated at a master level in the Guild of St Luke, the federation of artists and doctors of medicine, however even after his father set him up in his individual workshop; his affection to Verrocchio was so much that he sustained to work together with him6. However, Leonardo da Vinci started painting the Mona Lisa in 1503. He is considered to have sustained his work on it for at least 3 years after he went towards France and to have completed it soon before he died in 1519. Leonardo took the painting of Mona Lisa from Italy to France in 1516 when King Francois I requested him to work at the Clos Luce next to the king's fortress in Amboise. The King purchased the painting for 4,000 ecus and reserved it at Fontainebleau, where it stayed until given to Louis XIV. Louis XIV stirred the painting to the castle of Versailles. Later than the French revolt, it was placed to the Louver. Napoleon I had it moved to his bedroom in the Toiletries fortress; after sometime it went back to the Louver. Throughout the Franco-Prussian War it was placed from the Louver to a secret place some where in France7. The painting is well-known, especially, for the indefinable smile on the woman’s face, its strange feature brought about possibly by the fact that the artiste has delicately shaded the curves of the mouth and eyes so that the precise character of the smile cannot be resolute8. The indistinct superiority for which the effort is famous is known as the “sfumato” or in other words, Leonardo’s smoke. Leonardo Da Vinci 4 Although, Mona Lisa was not famous until the mid nineteenth century when artistes of the up-and-coming Symbolist association started to be pleased about it and related it with their thoughts regarding the female air of mystery9. In 1867 a famous historian, articulated this inspection by describing the stature in the painting as a type of mythic personification of everlasting femaleness, who is as said by him “older than the sways amongst which she sits” plus who “has been dead a lot of times and studied the secrets of the vital.”10 The painting for Mona Lisa was done through the process of oil painting. This procedure was done on the painting with colors that are bound with a means of drying oil; particularly this was done in early Europe, linseed oil. Frequently the oil for example the linseed was simmered with a resin such as pine resin or even frankincense, these were known as polishes and were valued for their body and shine. Other oils occasionally used include poppy seed oil, walnut oil, and safflower oil. These oils present a variety of properties to the oil paint, for instance less yellowing or dissimilar drying period. Such differences are moreover noticeable in the polish of the paints depending on the quality of the oil11. Leonardo Da Vinci 5 In the conclusion, Leonardo da Vinci brought huge changes in the globe. Leonardo was pleased with his life for whatever he was and whatever he did. He in addition played a immense part to the art world. Leonardo also inclined many people into early to paint because he had such grand art talent. Leonardo varieties made an innovative type of artwork he did this because he would blend his oil paints and thus, was like a new type of art. The way of his would diminish rapidly. The fame of Leonardo da Vinci is definite to reach unparalleled heights as word of his astonishing drawings spreads. Leonardo's thoughtful donation to the world of art and science are improbable to be replicated. He was a man of remarkable forethought with a brilliant aptitude. His legend persists to grow. His creations glint our thoughts. Leonardo Da Vinci 6 Bibliography Ripley, Elizabeth. (1952). Leonardo da Vinci. U.S.A: Henry Z Walck Inc. O'Malley & Saunders (1982). Leonardo on the Human Body.
