Lecturer Business Ethics I would like to begin by concurring with the fact that business ethics is a mandatory component of any business. Although the US multinationals operating in other countries is primarily aiming at maximizing profits, they need to comply with the legal requirements in each of them. This is because business activities in every country are under the control of the governments. Just like in USA, it is the government which has an authoritative mandate to directly regulate business activities within the country.

At the same time, it is recommended for these multinationals to comply with the laws governing business an operation in other countries since each of them has distinct regulations which apply to them. For instance, the multinationals need to know and accept to adhere with the laws governing importation, exportation, recruitment, employee welfare, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental conservation. Failure to do so might expose them to lots of legal tussles which might in the long run, interfere with their success.

On the other hand, it is my considered opinion that these multinationals should offer reasonable and fair salaries and wages to their employees. These can be determined by referring to the local and international labor laws, government policies on wage limits, demands from the trade unions, level of expertise and costs of living. The remunerations offered to each category of employee should be acceptable by all the involved stakeholders. This is the best way through which these multinationals can satisfy their workforce and appeal to the general public as they strive to accomplish their short and long-term goals.
