There are certain conditions, which should be considered before the planning process in order to facilitate the airport design and the services, which it will provide in the future. These conditions actually play an important role in the operational capability of the airport. These conditions include the customization according to the demands of the passengers, safety and security of the passengers and their luggage and the flexibility to handle the emergency situations. There are many stakeholders’ issues, which should be solved before the operationalization of the airports. The stakeholders of the airport include customers, transporters, Government agencies, airlines companies, civil aviation authorities, airport management and the staff members. Therefore, the airport design should facilitate all of them in a balance so that there can be efficiency in all the working areas of the airport and thus giving benefits to the airport management. all of these aspect of the airport design should be managed in the planning session therefore it is the duty of the engineers to keep these things at preference. Introduction: The purpose of this research paper is to provide a guideline about the planning of an airport design. The main persons included in the process will be the airport managers, airport staff, airport planners, architects, and the overall aviation industry. However, these are the main persons in the planning process and then the construction process but throughout the planning and construction their main focus should be on considerations of the stakeholders and their concerns about the usage of the building. There are many of the important considerations or the factors, which are very important for the planning processes of an airport design. These factors or considerations are safety, Security concerns, operational ability, commercialism, financial support, aid, and the environmental conditions. In addition to this, there is a requirement of settlement with the local Government bodies and the civil aviation authorities. So that the airport management will not face any problem, form the legal agencies regarding any law or rules. Description of Air Port Design: In this section of the report, there is a detailed description of the step by step procedure of planning the airport design, analysis of all the necessary components of an airport design and an overview of the primary users of the airports. Systematic Process: In the planning process of airport design, the first step is to gather and catalogue all of the existing data about the record of aviation authority, any required important information, and consideration that will have an effect on the planning and subsequent design of the airport facilities. After that, there comes the next step, which involves determining future forecasts of customers, or we can say passengers, cargo, and airplanes routes that will form the foundation for programming the future operational planning. This typically involves an interactive process of developing initial settings, and then progressively more refined and complex concepts. These interactive conceptual development steps involve evaluation assessments of different factors that help in limiting the field of solutions and then suggestions in the selection of a single preferred option. The selected option then forms the foundations for the initial architectural and engineering schematic design, design development, preparation of construction drawings, and specifications and cost estimation. All of these steps are necessary to be completed because it will be easy for the managers. Primary Users of Airports: It is very obvious that one can easily identify the primary users of the airports. These primary users are airlines companies, air travelers, well-wishers, and an extensive range of employees of airport management, government authorities, air carrier, and other airport lodgers. It is necessary that airport management should provide an excellent level of services to all of these users or we can say stakeholders. In addition to these users, the airport management usually deals with three most important components of an airport design; which includes air side, Terminal and land side. The detail of these components of an airport will be described in the description below. Air Side Components: The primary elements required for the planning of an airport’s air side components includes air craft parking restrictions, installation of air traffic control tower, proper tools for the guidance of direction to the air craft’s, taxiways and the taxi lanes on the run ways. In addition, the runway measurement should be matched with the standard measurement of the local Government. Terminal gates play an important role for controlling of the traffic and thus maintaining the flow. Remote parking positions of the aircraft’s should be visibly marked. The air craft techncias team should be available at the air port or we should say within the limit of the airports so that any emergency can be dealt with ease. There is another important thing is the ground services provision to the airline management or the company. The airport management should have contingency plans to deal with any of the emergency or the uncertain situations. Airport management should focus on the fuel consideration for the aircrafts and the waste disposal of the airplanes. Airport Terminal Building Facilities: The terminal building facility is the most important part of the airport design. It should acknowledge the key functional and operational drivers of the airport processes, which include business considerations and the local community. Both of these drivers will affect the processes of the airport in an effective manner. The important element in this regard includes concession planning for pleasant offerings to the customers and thus creating a source of revenue generation for the airport management. Security planning is another important concern, which includes the screening process of the passengers and the baggage’s. People’s baggage handling should be managed accordingly without wasting any time (Ronald, 2009). The management systems should be technology advanced so that there can be cost and time saving in the management of all the operations. In addition to this, there are some other important considerations, which include ticketing issues, side rooms for the passengers, screening, demand management and the flow of the processes. Land Side Facilities: The landside management is an important factor because any carelessness in this regard may lower down the overall efficiency of the airport management. the primary elements of the landside facilities includes pedestrian facilities, crosswalks, vehicle lanes, baggage check-ins, by-pass lanes, facilities for loading and unloading of the luggage in a proper lane and the parking area with adequate space in it. In addition to it, there should be proper walk through gates at the entry/exit gateways. Therefore all of these factors collectively make the airport design a complete picture perfect (Brown, 2010). The actual reason behind the focus on the land side facilities is to provide security for the passengers. If there is strong check-ins in the land side facility then it will be easy for the management to provide required security inside the terminal facility. In addition to the security issues, there is a need of provision of comfort to the passengers with the help of walk passages, luggage carry carts and the proper parking for their personal transport vehicles. Summary: In short, words, we can say that while designing an airport, the airport management will have to consider many issues and concerns. They have to take care of the many of the airport users and stakeholders so that the operational capability of the airport and the terminal can be increases at the maximum. In this way, a better level of service can be provided to them. The better level of services will be a reason for the satisfaction of the customers. At the end, customer satisfaction is the success of the airport management and the planning process. The airport management should be concerned about the efficient utilizations of the airport lands, balanced development and investment in the three components of the airports infrastructure, financial affordability and the relationships with the stakeholders. Still the airport management will face stakeholder’s issues, agency involvements or we can say that the involvement of the third party in the negotiation process and the transport administration. All of these are the important persons. Agency issues may come in the form of any laws and rules for the construction or the building style of the airport. The airport management has to be conscious about the standard measures and the procedures and thus nothing should be against laws. Because it will create problems in the next phases of operational capacity. After that, there is another important consideration that is the transportation involvement. It is obvious that transport is involved at the airside activities and the land side activities. These transporters can create problems for the airport management but it can be settled down with the help of negotiations or the third party involvement. Therefore designing and planning process for the airport facility need many things to be considered. Works Cited Brown, L.
